Peace in Sight? Rubio Says Gaza Deal Just Needs “Logistical” Polish

Peace in Gaza may be within reach as a comprehensive deal to end the two-year war is nearly complete, requiring only a final “logistical” polish, according to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He announced Sunday that the agreement is “90 per cent done,” with Hamas having offered its preliminary consent.
The framework, backed by President Donald Trump, prioritizes the release of all Israeli hostages. In return, Israel is prepared to move its military forces back to the “yellow line,” a position it held inside Gaza in mid-August.
Beyond the ceasefire, the deal paves the way for future stability. Rubio confirmed that Hamas has agreed “in principle and generalities” to discussions about a post-war plan for Gaza, a crucial element for any durable peace in the region.
President Trump has strongly endorsed the plan as a “great deal for Israel” and has simultaneously issued a stark warning to Hamas of “complete obliteration” if it does not relinquish power. He also affirmed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is on board with the US-led effort.
The final phase of the negotiations is now focused on the practical details of the hostage exchange. Rubio stated that these technical discussions will act as a quick and decisive test of Hamas’s commitment to the peace process.
