‘Canada cheated’: Trump’s allegation as he ends trade talks

by admin477351

President Donald Trump has ended all trade negotiations with Canada, making the explosive allegation that “Canada cheated and got caught.”
The president’s claim, made on truth social, was a reaction to an ad from Ontario that featured a 1987 clip of Ronald Reagan criticizing tariffs.
Trump called the ad “fake” and “fraudulent,” and claimed it was an attempt to interfere with US supreme court hearings on his 35% tariffs on Canadian goods.
The ad has also been criticized by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation for using “selective audio” to “misrepresent” the former president’s full speech.
The halt in talks, confirmed by secretary of state Marco Rubio, escalates the trade war and jeopardizes a vital economic relationship, with over 75% of Canadian exports going to the us.
