As Türkiye and China celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations, the two nations are enhancing their partnership across multiple domains, including trade, connectivity, technology, and regional affairs. Türkiye’s Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, emphasized the long-standing historical interactions between the two countries, tracing back to the Silk Road era, which facilitated trade, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic contacts between the civilizations.

Official diplomatic ties were forged in 1971, and since then, the relationship has seen substantial growth. China has emerged as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with annual bilateral trade exceeding $50 billion. Türkiye has bolstered its diplomatic footprint in China with additional consulates and a growing economic presence.

Ambassador Ünal highlighted ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation in critical sectors such as artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. Both Ankara and Beijing hold aligned perspectives on numerous international and regional issues, prioritizing peace, stability, and development while working collectively to prevent conflicts.
