Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged the nation to maintain confidence and progress steadily toward the goal of the country’s rejuvenation. Speaking at a reception in Beijing on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Xi emphasized the importance of sustaining economic momentum and fostering innovation-driven, high-quality development.
Xi outlined key objectives, including improving people’s livelihoods and achieving the year’s targets to secure a strong beginning for China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan, set to span from 2026 to 2030. He reaffirmed support for the “one country, two systems” framework in Hong Kong and Macao, advocating for greater integration of these regions into China’s broader development strategy.
On the issue of Taiwan, Xi reiterated the need for deeper cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation. He expressed opposition to both “Taiwan independence” and external interference, underscoring China’s commitment to the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.
In terms of foreign policy, Xi stated that China would continue its independent path focused on peace and the promotion of a community with a shared future for humanity. This vision aligns with China’s broader international objectives and reflects its approach to global engagement.
