China and Uzbekistan are bolstering their ties through enhanced cooperation in infrastructure, artificial intelligence, green development, and trade, as evidenced by Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s recent visit to Uzbekistan. During his two-day stay in Tashkent, Premier Li engaged in discussions with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, resulting in the signing of multiple agreements across various sectors, including trade, education, healthcare, and e-commerce.

A significant focus of the visit was the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, which both nations are committed to advancing. This initiative aims to improve regional connectivity and foster economic growth. China also encouraged its companies to invest in Uzbekistan, while Uzbekistan assured its readiness to create a favorable business environment for such investments.

The two countries agreed to deepen their collaboration in energy, mineral resources, modern agriculture, digital technology, and environmental protection. China expressed a strong interest in importing more high-quality Uzbek products and urged Uzbekistan to increase its access to the Chinese market.

China remains Uzbekistan’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $16.1 billion last year, marking a 17.9 percent increase from the previous year. This growing trade relationship underscores the strengthening economic ties between the two nations.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing political trust, expanding investment, and promoting cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges. They also pledged to collaborate more closely on regional and international issues, further developing their strategic partnership.
