Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called for enhanced global cooperation in the field of traditional medicine, emphasizing its role in public health protection and cultural preservation. Speaking at the World Conference on Traditional Medicine 2026 in Beijing, attended by approximately 1,200 participants, Li urged countries to promote scientific innovation and improve healthcare access worldwide.

Li outlined China’s commitment to advancing traditional Chinese medicine through scientific research, technological innovation, and modern healthcare applications. He advocated for the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence to modernize these practices, stressing the importance of international collaboration among research institutions, businesses, and healthcare organizations.

Highlighting the need for balanced policymaking and shared responsibility, Li encouraged nations to learn from each other rather than relying on a single approach to address complex public health challenges. He underscored Beijing’s willingness to expand pilot programs aimed at opening medical services and enhancing the conservation and sustainable use of medicinal resources.

The Chinese premier also stressed the importance of reducing inequalities in global health services and making healthcare more accessible. His remarks at the conference underscore China’s efforts to promote traditional medicine on an international scale, while fostering research, technological development, and cooperation to improve healthcare outcomes.
