Amid rising regional tensions, China has urged the United States and Iran to persist in their negotiations and steer clear of any further escalation, emphasizing that dialogue remains the most effective path to a resolution. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi underscored the fragility of the current ceasefire but maintained that engaging in talks is preferable to engaging in conflict.

In a recent meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Beijing, Wang Yi reiterated Beijing’s willingness to collaborate with Saudi Arabia to mitigate tensions and bolster long-term stability in the region. Both diplomats underscored the critical importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, a vital maritime route through which a substantial portion of the world’s oil and gas supplies is transported.

The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz has become a focal point in discussions between Iran and the United States, following disruptions in shipping activities due to heightened tensions. As a nation heavily reliant on energy supplies from the Gulf, China has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution to these disputes.

During their talks, the Chinese and Saudi officials also reviewed ways to enhance cooperation between their countries in various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, technology, and supply chains. Moreover, they addressed broader strategies aimed at improving regional security and stability.
